Who is this workshop for?

Anyone who needs to keep track of what they are reading and then cite these sources in their own work.  This workshop is an introduction to RefWorks – software which runs in your Web browser and helps you manage publication references.  It is aimed specifically at scientists - as referencing styles differ between subject disciplines.

What will it cover?

RefWorks can save you a lot of time by helping you to organise, manage and cite references

What will it cover?

  • How to create a RefWorks account and download the Word toolbar, for use on and off campus.
  • How to input references manually, from a bibliographic database, from the library catalogue, and how to import a website reference.
  • How to create a bibliography in Word, using the Write'N'Cite toolbar.
  • How to create an independent bibliography.

Do I need to do anything to prepare?

It would be useful for you to bring a couple of sample references along with you, and to find out what reference style (e.g. Harvard) your subject area uses.

  • No need to sign up in advance

  • To put it in your Outlook calendar click vCal and then Open

  • All rooms are wheelchair accessible

  • Special requirements can be catered for (eg large print materials) click here to let us know what you need
