Blackboard VLE
What we provide
We provide maintenance, support and development of the Blackboard Virtual Learning Environment used by Academics and Students. We also provide maintenance and support for other IT applications that are used within the Blackboard VLE system.
At present the technologies supported include:
- Turnitin
- Learning Objects Blogs and Wikis
What you can expect
Our Business Analysts and Developers provide technical advice and guidance on the use of the existing business application suite.
We can also provide a range of expertise so that, working with you, we can take the ideas for a new functionality from concept into production.
What we expect
The use of this service is subject to University of Leicester Information Security Policy.
Requests for new services or for amendments to existing services should be filtered through Academic Liaison.
Service availability
User and system level support is provided during normal working hours Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm. However our applications and infrastructure are becoming increasingly resilient and as such, are usually operational 24 hours per day, seven days per week. You will always be advised of planned outages.
Scheduled maintenance
Scheduled maintenance time for Blackboard (service unavailable) will be communicated on the Blackboard homepage under the 'Blackboard Service News' section.
Blackboard backup time
Blackboard is backed up daily at 2:00 am (UK time). If you cannot access Blackboard at this hour, please try again later.
Service charges
There is no direct charge for access to the applications that are currently in place to support the Virtual Learning Environment.
