Campus Network

The University provides a comprehensive campus wired and wireless network. It is a vital resource to the whole University community, both on and off campus. It enables staff and students to communicate and collaborate. The campus network is managed on a day-to-day basis by the Data & Voice Network Services Team in IT Services.

What we provide

In addition to providing interactive access to the central academic and research computing facilities, the campus wired network is used as a common carrier for a wide variety of departmental traffic.  It provides access to file servers and applications for staff and student access computers. It also enables communications via email and it facilitates printing to remote or shared printers.  The wired network is a fundamental part of the Administration and Library information service provision.  In addition, the network provides gateways access to other electronic services on JANET and beyond.
The University wireless network provides access to the Internet and some specific local services for staff, students and sponsored visitors.
