Microsoft Campus Agreement

The Microsoft Campus agreement allows subscribers to install and update a range of Microsoft products on all equipment owned by, or leased to, the University. The Software Available via the Campus Agreement is a close match to the Microsoft applications that are in common use at the University of Leicester.

NOTE: Campus is a "rental" scheme; and if the University ever ceases its agreement with Microsoft (or Microsoft end Campus) all software installed during the period of the subscription must be removed from use unless appropriate licences are bought to allow the continued use of the software.

Campus Nominees

Because of the above need Campus software is only ever released to Campus Nominees who, as well as helping the end user install the software on their own machines, must keep records sufficient for the task of ensuring that ALL the software has been deleted if necessary. This responsibility falls, formally, to the head of department but the form naming the Nominee has a declaration that makes it clear that the Nominee has a role to play. This role is no small one so the Nominee cannot simply be appointed, s/he must accept the role.

Obtaining Campus Software for Departmental Use

To obtain software under the Campus Agreement you must contact your Campus Departmental Nominee for Campus software.

Departmental Nominees should use the Request for Microsoft Campus Software form to request Campus software distribution CDs from IT Services. Nominees are also responsible for installing the software on users' machines and they may install the software on as many eligible computers as they wish.

There is no charge for the software supplied under the Campus Agreement. However, IT Services will charge £3 for each CD issued. Thus most applications will cost £3 but for Office, which is supplied on two CDs, the charge will be £6. A departmental account code must therefore be provided.
