Step 3 Windows 7/Windows Vista

  • Choose Start>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers>Add a Printer.

The Hardware and Sound step may be unnecessary on some PCs.

  • From the dialog box choose to Add a Network Printer, wireless or Bluetooth printer and click Next.

The wording in the dialog box varies depending upon the version of Windows you are using but the choice is obvious.

  • Click The printer that I want isn’t listed and then Next in the following dialog box.
  • In the next dialog box choose Select a shared printer by name and enter the print queue name for one of the printers you want to use into the URL box.
    add printer

There are six queues and you can pick the ones you want to use or install them all. Most people will only need the A4 single-sided, A4 double-sided (duplex) queue and the A4 colour single-sided queue.

Add each queue in the same way; the print queue name is the only thing that changes.

  • Enter your username and password in the following dialog box and click OK.

enter password

  • Click Next when the printer has been added and click Finish to complete the installation.
    • From the Default Printer dialog you have the option to choose this print queue as your default. Click OK and when the installation is completed click Finish.

Repeat the above for all the print queues you want to install.

    Double-sided (duplex) print queues

If you have added any double-sided (duplex) print queues you must:

    • Choose Start>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Printers
    • Right-click on the double-sided (duplex) print queue you have added and choose Properties.
    • From the dialog box click Printing Preferences and from the Finishing tab. Ensure you tick the Print on Both Sides box.
    • Click on Save and then click OK in each of the dialog boxes displayed.

Important: You must follow the double sided (duplex) print queue instructions for all the double-sided queues you add. Otherwise, you’ll pay for a double-sided page even if you print single sided.

    Step 4 (1 minute)
    Printing

Print as usual. Choose the printer and the appropriate print queue and change settings as required.

Some programs require you to choose the printer you wish to use before you print.
