Turnitin

Turnitin is the name of the plagiarism detection system which is used by the University of Leicester. Turnitin checks student submitted work for text matches to outside sources such as the current and archived internet, journal articles and previously submitted student papers.

Why do we need plagiarism detection?

There has been much talk about a rise in plagiarism in student work due to the increasing use of the internet and the temptation to simply cut and paste information into essays.
