Reset your password

These instructions will help you if you have forgotten your password for your University IT account.

If you have your username and have previously set your password reset answers, you can reset your forgotten password when using a University PC or laptop.

You can have three attempts to answer the questions before you are prevented from using the password reset tool for 15 minutes. If you experience difficulty see the troubleshooting information.

How to reset your password

On campus

If you are on campus, you can reset your password using a University PC:

Off-campus or using a personal PC or Mac

What if I have not set my password reset answers?

If you have not set your password reset answers you will need to call the IT Service desk who will call you back on the number that you have provided in Employee Self Service. Then you will need to:

  1. Set your password reset answers
  2. Reset your password using the online tool

Reset your password from a University PC login screen

  1. At the login screen enter your University IT account username
  2. Click on Reset Password

  3. You can reset your password by entering your four answers. You must enter them identically to when you set your answers, however they are not case sensitive. Click on Next to continue.

  4. You can now reset your password. See our guidance for acceptable passwords. Click on Reset to continue.

  5. You will now be able to log in almost immediately

Reset your password using the online tool

  1. Go to the website tool: www.le.ac.uk/resetpassword (opens in a new window). You may need to enter uol\ followed by your University IT account username and password:

  2. Enter your University IT account username and click Next

  3. You can reset your password by entering your four answers. You must enter them identically to when you set your answers, however they are not case sensitive. Click on Submit to continue.

  4. You can now reset your password. See our guide to choose a secure password. Click on Next to continue.

  5. You will now be able to login with your new password.

Troubleshooting

You are not authorised to reset your password...

This message may appear if you have not previously set any password reset answers. You will need to contact the IT Service desk to reset your password.

Your account is locked out...

You may receive this message if you have made more than three attempts to answer the password reset questions.

After 15 minutes this message will disappear. At that point you can try again with three further attempts. After a further 15 minutes you can have final go, also with three attempts. If this fails (after nine attempts) you will need to contact the IT Service desk who will call you back and reset your password.
