Avoid opening PowerPoint presentations from email attachments when using Reflect

We are aware of an issue when using Reflect Lecture Capture, which causes the recording to fail to upload. This is often caused when the PowerPoint presentation has been opened from an email attachment in Outlook which causes the upload process to fail as Panopto is unable to locate the file.

When the PowerPoint presentation is opened as an attachment from email it is downloaded to a temporary folder which causes the recording to fail to upload as Panopto is unable to locate the file.

What do I need to do?

You should avoid opening your PowerPoint presentation from an email attachment. Instead you could save your presentation to your Personal Z: drive. Then when you are in the teaching room, login to the teaching room PC using your University IT account and open the file from your Z: drive.

Alternatively, if you have an issue, you can login using the ‘avsguest’ account that’s provided in these rooms, but please be aware that you will have to download and then open your presentation from the desktop by using MyFiles.
