Distance Learning survey 2015: the findings

Over 500 responses were received from Distance Learning students in the recent survey held in November 2015. We have gained valuable feedback on IT facilities and Library resources.

The survey has also helped us better understand our DL community, and will help us to improve our services in the future.

There was both positive and negative feedback offered. We were pleased to receive positive feedback about the help provided by IT Services and the Library. The main areas for improvement identified were:

  • Availability of digital resources – There were comments that some digital resources required for a particular module were not available online.
  • Library postal loan service – Some felt that library loans cost too much money to send back, and were inconvenient when based in a different country
  • Blackboard – Blackboard was criticised as difficult to use, particularly when using discussion boards
  • Course text links – A problem whereby links are not updated on course sites was highlighted, which makes accessing relevant texts and articles online more difficult

The Library have also put together a response to some of the key issues raised in the survey.
