Program updates from 11 July 2014

Changes to Programs

A newer version of these programs will be available to install:

  • Endnote version X7.1
    • Students PCs will continue to have X7 installed until these PCs are updated in August/September
  • R for Windows version 3.1.0
    • Version 3.0.2 will also remain available, but you will no longer be able to install version 3.0.0
    • Students PCs will continue to have version 3.0 installed until these PCs are updated in August/September
  • Audacity version 2.0.5
  • Prism version 6.04
  • NCapture version v1.0.190.0
  • WinCoot version 0.7.2.1

New programs

These programs will be available using the Program Installer from 11 July 2014:

  • GIMP v2.8.10 - a free image retouching and editing program. It can also be used for free-form drawing, resizing, image format conversion and other specialized tasks
  • Paint.NET 3.5.11 - is a lightweight image and photo editor. It offers more functionality than the Paint program, which comes with Windows, but lacks some of the more complex features of other programs such as Photoshop or GIMP

Programs that will be removed

The following programs will be removed from the Program Installer:

  • CDBurnerXP 4.4 – instead you should install and use version 4.5.2 from the Program Installer
  • Skype 5.9 – you should now install and use version 6.14 from the Program Installer. A warning message will be displayed for the next couple of weeks if you use version 5.9 to advise that you should upgrade to the new version.
