Important change to Outlook Web access (Webmail) - Monday 23 January
From 23 January 2012 all users of Outlook Web Access (Webmail) on logon must precede their username with cfs\.
What
We are implementing a change to the Webmail service that affects the details entered to log in to their email meaning the username must be preceded with cfs\.
A notice to this effect has been added to the Outlook Web Access login page webmail.le.ac.uk.
It is not anticipated that access to email via email programs on non-CFS computers or mobile phones etc. will be affected. However, in the event of difficulties please check that devices have been setup using the instructions at:
Non-CFS computers:
http://www2.le.ac.uk/offices/itservices/resources/cs/sd/email/otheraccess
Mobile phones etc.:
http://www2.le.ac.uk/offices/itservices/resources/cs/2ls/mobile/use
Departments are alerted to the likelihood that students could be the users most affected by this change and IT Services encourages departments to refer to the instructions above should problems be reported.
Why
This prefix is necessary as a temporary measure in order to differentiate between University IT accounts using CFS and those which have been upgraded to the new Windows 7 service. The prefix will remain until all staff and student accounts have upgraded to the new Windows 7 service, currently anticipated to be the end of 2012.
When
The prefix will be required from Monday 23 January 2012.
I have further questions, who should I contact?
Please contact the IT Service Desk, tel: 0116 252 2253 or email: ithelp@le.ac.uk.
