Many central IT services unavailable, 6:30pm 18 March
Every month Microsoft release important security updates and we now need to apply these patches to our services. Whilst we carry out this work, many central IT services will not be available for use.
What
IT Services will be carrying out maintenance work on most of the servers supporting our central computing services.
All CFS services will be affected by this work and unavailable whilst it takes place - this includes:
- Access to X: and Z: drives
- Staff and Student PCs
- Email (exchange)
- The Connect Service
- Blackboard
- The Research Experts Database (RED)
- The SQL server cluster
- WADS
- The Charged Printing Service
- The Wireless and Remote Printing (WARP) Service
- The Streaming Media Service.
Why
Every month Microsoft release critical security patches to address vulnerabilities in their products. We need to apply these patches to ensure our services and the data stored on them by our customers are secure and safe from attack.
When
This work will take place on Thursday 18 March 6:30pm - 9:00pm, during the regular 'systems at-risk' window.
