University PC update schedule
A minor update is required to most University PCs over the next few months. During the update your screen may go blank or your icons may disappear temporarily. You may need to restart following any updates on a laptop. See the schedule for when your computer is due to be updated.
Several IT services unavailable: 5pm – 10pm Thursday 30 March 2017
The Student record system (including SITS, MyStudentRecord and the student timetable) and SAP (including Employee Self-Service) will be unavailable during essential system maintenance on Thursday 30 March 2017 between 5.00pm and 10.00pm.
High Performance Computing maintenance – Unavailable Wednesday 29 March 2017 8am until 12 Noon on Friday 31 March 2017
ALICE and SPECTRE will be unavailable from 8.00am on Wednesday 29 March 2017 until 12 Noon on Friday 31 March 2017 to allow the storage system to be replaced. You will not be able to use ALICE and SPECTRE during this time.
Updated: Issue with some Reflect lecture capture recordings
Following an issue which is affecting staff when they attempt to make a manual lecture capture recordings, a workaround is planned. Automatic recordings should not be affected and proceed as normal.
Do not download ‘OneClass’ Chrome Extension
The University have been made aware of a phishing email telling students and staff to download Google Chrome extension OneClass which steals their usernames and passwords. This extension is not supported by Blackboard or the University of Leicester. You should not install this extension.
Employee Self-Service unavailable – 4pm on Friday 24 March 2017 until 7am on Monday 27 March 2017
Employee Self-Service will be unavailable from 4.00pm on Friday 24 March 2017 until 7.00am on Monday 27 March 2017 for the annual maintenance to SAP, the Finance and HR system.
SAP maintenance - unavailable 4pm on Friday 24 March 2017 until 7am on Monday 27 March 2017
Important maintenance will be applied to SAP from 4.00pm on Friday 24 March 2017 until 7.00am on Monday 27 March 2017. At this time, SAP (including Employee Self Service, LUCRE and any other component of SAP) will be unavailable.
IT Service Desk staff meeting - Friday 24 March 2017 3.30pm - 4.30pm
A staff meeting is held every other Friday afternoon for an hour. You will not be able to contact the IT Service Desk during this time.
Apple product delivery delays
The University has recently experienced delays whilst ordering Apple products from the selected supplier. IT Services and the Procurement Unit have now selected another reseller.
Network Maintenance throughout February and March
Important maintenance is required to the University network which began on Tuesday 14 February 2017 and will continue throughout February and March. You may notice brief interruptions to the network and wifi (e.g. access to the Internet) during 7.00am and 9.00am in University buildings on Tuesday mornings.
