Environment
The High Performance Computing (HPC) systems run Scientific Linux, a clone of RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). This provides both a command line and graphical environment. Modules help to ensure that you have access to all the software you need.
Command line environment
The command line environment is referred to as the Shell.
Modules
Modules are Linux software that helps to ensure that you have access to all of the software you need in the correct version without conflicting with other applications installed on the system.
