outgoing deviceStudy Abroad programmes will give you the opportunity to broaden your academic and social horizons whilst enhancing your future career prospects. We have exchange opportunities in the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Africa, although your academic study pathway may restrict these destinations.

Many students gain a new perspective on their life goals through the experience of a new culture, the opportunity to travel and the new friends they make. These opportunities explain why so many students describe their study abroad year as life-changing!

What is Study Abroad?

  • Study Abroad is an exchange programme lasting one semester or one year which gives students the chance to experience university level study at one of our partner universities. Destinations are typically outside the EU. Please note that students interested in studying with a partner in South Korea or South Africa may be eligible for additional support under the Erasmus+ programme.
  • Where can I go? The University of Leicester Study Abroad exchange agreements with universities in every continent except Antarctica. Please check the 'Where can I go?' webpages for more information on our exchange destinations.
