Introduction
Erasmus
Erasmus is the name given to the inter-university exchange programme that allows students to experience another European University for one year or semester of their degree. At Leicester we have a history of sending students to universities across Europe - from Finland to Greece, Portugal to Lithuania - and everywhere in between! Read the University of Leicester's Erasmus Policy Statement.
The Erasmus programme is well-known across the continent, with over 2.5 million students having taken part since its inception in 1987. Erasmus is as much a cultural phenomenon as an educational exchange, and it has given many students their first opportunity to live abroad. The programme is funded by the European Commission, which provides an Erasmus Grant to each participant.
Destinations
We currently have Erasmus exchange partners in 22 countries. Because exchanges exist at departmental level, the University you can go to will depend on your academic department at Leicester. Find out more about taking part in an Erasmus exchange on the following pages:
If you're interested in going on exchange outside Europe, please consult the Study Abroad pages.
