Resignation

ResignationIf you wish to resign from your post at the University, you should write to your Line Manager informing them of the date on which you propose your employment will end (in line with your contractual notice period).

Your Line Manager will agree your notice arrangements, leaving date and make the necessary arrangements for you to take, within your period of notice, any accrued leave to which you are entitled.  You should return any University property, including keys, access cards and equipment, at the appropriate time.  A checklist of the most frequent items that need to be done can be found using the link at the bottom of this page.

Your line manager, in consultation with you, will complete a Staff Leaving Form and forward a copy with your resignation letter to the Division of Human Resources.  We will then write to you to acknowledge formal receipt of your resignation, and will advise the Payroll Team accordingly.  Payroll will process your final salary payment and issue your P45 and, if you are a member of the University’s Superannuation Scheme (USS), the Pensions Team will contact you separately to advise you of your options.
