University Legislation
The University was established by Royal Charter in 1957. The Charter provides an overarching statement of how the University is structured and how it conducts its affairs. Detailed provisions on these matters are set out in a series of supporting documents. The key documents are shown below. It is important to note that the Charter and the Statutes can only be amended by the University with the approval of the Privy Council.
