Graduate Teaching Assistants Scheme (GTAs)

The University’s Graduate Teaching Assistant Scheme provides opportunities for research students to combine their postgraduate training with some teaching duties.

Payments to GTAs comprises:

    • a maintenance stipend for the research component which is based on the standard Research Councils studentship rate; and
    • a monthly salary at 0.2 FTE on a fixed point on the University’s salary scale.

In addition, the postgraduate research tuition fee is waived up to the level set for Home/EU research postgraduate students (i.e. international students will be required to pay the difference between the International fee and the Home/EU fee)

Appointments are usually for a four year term, during which the GTA must be a registered student.
