Space Use Survey
The University needs to maintain an accurate record of how space is used for the following reasons:
- To complete accurate VAT returns;
- to complete an accurate TRAC return to HEFCE;
- to complete an accurate EMS return to HESA.
Each of these returns has a direct effect the University financial position.
Maintaining an accurate space record also assists in strategic planning and identifies any areas of imbalance or poor use of space.
Each year we prompt our departmental contacts to complete the Space Use Survey using the MICAD IPR system. We also ask that they use the system to maintain current space use data throughout the year.
