2013 Permits
Payroll Deductions. A question has been raised over why there are two payments for Car Parking on pay statements. The answer is that 'Car Parking Other Monthly' shows the cumulative payments made from the beginning of the tax year (covering payments to date for the old and the new permit system) and 'Car Parking Monthly' shows the new permit payment for the current month.
Lost Parking Permits
With effect from 1 May 12 a reprint of a parking permit which has been lost or damaged will incur a £5.00 replacement charge, this cannot be charged to payroll but will be a cash payment.
Amended Car Details
A change of car does not require a new permit, just an update on the Car Parking Office database, please use the on line ParkIT system linked from the box on the right of this page. If you cannot log on please email carparkingoffice@le.ac.uk with the old and new car details. Where this changes emission details and a full permit is held, an adjustment will be made to the parking charge from the next payroll period.
Car Park Closures
Up to date information on car park closures and traffic management is located here.
Enforcement Information
Warning notices are being put on vehicles that contravene Parking Regulations and this will continue for a period of time until people get used to the new system, after which the parking charges will be enforced. Please check the Car Parking Partnership website for further details of your contravention if you receive a 'ticket'. If you have further queries these are to be raised with Security.
Plastic Permit Holders
As the new permits are credit card size and not round, new plastic holders are freely available from the Car Parking Office.
Car Share Spaces
Car Share spaces are now marked in a number of the car parks with green lines and the car share logo. Please only park in these spaces if you display two permits.
Pay & Display Machines - Welford Road Car Park
New Pay & Display machines have been installed at the Welford Road Car Park, this installation is part of the implementation of the University Travel Plan and new parking permit scheme. Permit holders will still be able to park for free on this car park. Pay & Display will be available to staff, visitors and members of public without permits who wish to park - should there be spaces available across the whole car park.
Parking and Obstruction on University Road
The large ‘bendy buses’ are now regularly providing a service along University Road and following a number of complaints and accidents along University Road, the City Council and the Police will be issuing tickets to drivers who park or stop outside the permitted areas. Leicestershire Constabulary retain the powers to deal with highway obstruction matters and highway obstruction and dangerous parking will remain criminal offences and the police can prosecute for these offences regardless of the presence or not of waiting restrictions. Please be aware that dropping off/picking up, obstructing a junction including Entrance 1 and Mayors Walk, parking or stopping outside the marked parking bays and on single yellow lines before 6pm will all be considered an offence and liable to a fine and/or prosecution.
