Parking for Visitors
Visitor Parking
No permits are required for visitors to park on Campus between the hours of 5.00pm and 8.00am or at weekends. This is subject to University events taking priority for parking.
Visitor Parking Permit Applications
A limited number of visitors can be permitted to look for a parking space on Campus, but there is no guarantee of a space except as detailed below. Due to the shortage of space, visitors are encouraged to park off campus in the Pay & Display car parks (including the University’s Welford Road Car Park which can be used as Pay & Display if spaces are vacant).
Please complete our online form or alternatively print off this paper form
to order the permit in advance of the visit from the Car Parking Office. A visitor’s permit will then be emailed to the Department for issue to the visitor. As permits will need to be sent to visitors, five working days' notice is ideal, lesser notice will mean the permit may have to be collected from the Host on arrival to ensure parking charges are not incurred.
A small number of RESERVED spaces are available for priority visitors in the Fielding Johnson South Wing Car Park, located behind the Security Lodge at Entrance 1 to Main Campus. Priority visitors include: Council and Committee Lay Members, Grade 10 post interviewees, visitors to members of VCAC, departmental VIPs etc.
Pay & Display
There are several Pay & Display car parks close to but not owned by the University. Full details are provided on this printable map. In addition some P&D parking is also available at the Dry Dock Pub on Putney Road East next to Nixon Court. For details of alternative transport please see our travel pages. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to visitors but it is fairer to those who need to park.
If visitors arrive unannounced at Entrance 1 they will be asked to park in the Welford Road Pay & Display car park or off-site if no spaces are available.
Disabled Visitors
Disabled visitors or their departmental sponsors are advised to inform Security Control Room in advance of the visit so that access can be granted. It is possible that a vacant disabled space may not be available on the day of the visit so Pay & Display will have to be used.
Contractor Parking
Contractors parking will be limited to those vehicles required on campus to complete the job. Up to three permits will be issued for each Contractor and extra parking will be Pay & Display.
Contractors should arrange parking permits with their contact from the Estates and Facilities Management Division or their employing department, eg. IT Services, Students' Union or Residential and Commercial Services. For further information on contractor parking permits go to the Property Services Procedures page.
