Locks, Keys and Problems with Doors

Faults with locks and access cards

If a teaching or meeting room that you need access to is locked please contact a porter to open it for you.

Faults with swipe card access systems should be reported to the Security Clerk by email.

All other faults with doors and access systems should be reported to the maintenance help line 0116 252 5851 or by emailing maintsystem@le.ac.uk

Keys

Please order keys as soon as you know that you need them as delivery for some makes of keys can take as long as 4 weeks.

Keys should be ordered from Jay Gohil via email 

Please include the following details in your correspondence.

  • Key Number -  This number is located either on an existing key or on the lock the key is required for.  It usually consists of letters and numbers
  • Building name
  • Room number or room name
  • Name, phone number and email of person making request
  • Post/Role/Position of the person making the request
  • Reason why the key is required. ( e.g. New member of staff) 

Please note that whilst single room keys can be issued on normal departmental authority, sub-master keys will only be issued on the authority of the Head of Department and grand master keys will only be issued on the authority of the Head of Department and the Head of Security.

If you lose an access card, barrier pass or key you should report this immediately to the Security Control Room this is a 24 hour service.
