How to order keys and open locks.

New and replacement keys should be ordered using our online key request form

All new and replacement keys should be collected from the maintenance stores in the Charles Wilson Building, marked with a red arrow on the map right.

If you have a problem with locks please phone our maintenance help desk 0116 252 2319/5851.

Issues with swipe/card access should be reported to the security lodge by phoning 0116 252 1282.


When will my new key be ready?
This depends on the type of key; whilst the majority of keys can be replaced fairly quickly some keys will take several weeks.  Please order keys as soon as you know you need them.

I ordered a key under the old system do I still need to fill in the key request form?
No.  Please check first that your key isn't already on order by phoning 2515.

I don't have an original key as that has been lost how do I find the key number?
Please look for a number on the door lock and then phone maintenance on 0116 252 2319/5851.  If there is no number or if the number isn't sufficient for us to locate the key number we might need to send somebody to look at the lock.

Why can't  I have the keys delivered in the internal post?
For security reasons all keys must be signed for.  Keys should be collected from the maintenance stores which are on central campus.
