Award winning night for the Percy GeeOn Thursday 25 April 2013 the refurbishment of the Percy Gee Building won the RICS 2013 East Midlands regional award for Building Conservation. The award, pictured, was collected by Professor Helen Atkinson, Chair of the Project Implementation Team. There was further success for the University with the new Manor Road Sports Centre rated as highly commended in the Leisure and Tourism category. Both projects were managed by the Estates Development Team. |

Dress down Friday raises £166 for Comic ReliefOn Friday 15 March 2013 the normally smart and suave Estates Office staff, let down their hair and put on their casuals to raise £166 for Comic Relief. Staff paid a minimum of £1 each for the privilege of wearing their jeans, sweat shirts and baseball caps. |

£600 for Charity from Jelly Welly EventCongratulations to Peter Hickling, our Portering and Cleaning Services Manager, who together with his fiance, Poppy Dakin, and several of their friends raised over £600 for a charity supporting bereaved children Winstons Wish. Their story is featured in the Leicester Mercury. |

Colourful Scenes at College CourtLocal artist Peter Welton and children from the nearby St Thomas More Catholic Voluntary Academy have created a 100ft long mural to brighten up the hoardings surrounding the construction site for the refurbishment of College Court. |

Library Podium Project Recognised in Civic Trust AwardsThe University has just received notice that the construction project for the Library Podium and Bike Park was considered to be of merit at regional level and was one of only 146 construction projects put forward to a National Panel for second consideration in the Civic Trust Awards. |

District Energy Scheme (DES)
The DES which is a collaboration between the University of Leicester, Leicester City Council and Cofely District Energy Ltd will use the heat generated as a bi-product of electricity generation to heat buildings in the University and City, saving 12,000 tonnes of CO2 each year. |

The Michael Atiyah AnnexThe Michael Atiyah Annex is a £1.4million building to accommodate the expansion of the Space Research Centre, constructed off-site as 14 modular units and assembled on campus inside 9 weeks. The Building was opened by David Willetts, Minister for Universities and Science in January 2011. |
