Equal Opportunities Policy
This policy intends to encapsulate the University's overall approach to equality or opportunity. It reflects the consolidation of previous individual rights equality legislation into the Equality Act 2010 and the streamlining of the public equality duties in the same legislation.
Equality Data
The information available from this page is designed to give an overall indication of the position of the University with respect to those protected characteristics about which data is currently collected. It is used to guide further equalities work and help set equality objectives. Further analysis may be possible where there are particular concerns. This information is published in fulfilment of the specific duties for public bodies contained in the Equality Act 2010.
The Athena Swan project is proactive work the University is carrying out to advance gender equality in science and engineering. The University is currently giving consideration to extending this work to other areas of the organisation.

Equality Objectives
In accordance with the Public Duties of the Equality Act 2010 the University, through its Equal Opportunities Committee, has agreed a number of equality objectives. These objectives are set out in the publication document.
