Religion

With the publication of its Equal Opportunities Policy the University has committed itself to the proactive treatment of equality with respect to religion or belief.

In 2010 a national study was undertaken into the experiences within higher education of students and staff who have a religion or belief.  The outcome of that study is contained in the publication Religion and belief in HE: Researching the Experiences of Staff and Students produced by the Equality Challenge Unit

Within the University there is a free standing Group, The Worlds Faiths Advisory Group that meets at least once per term and at which issues of faith and inter-faith relations are discussed. There are representatives from all the major faiths of the world. From the evidence of this Group inter-faith relations within the University appear to be strong and the group works hard to develop inter-faith understanding. The Group is supported through the University Chaplaincy, an information resource for world faiths.
