Course aims

  • English & MediaExplore the impact of the media on the use of English
  • Examine the relationship between the Arts and industry, and between high and low culture
  • Consider a range of issues affecting the relationship between English and the media, including legal restrictions, how the media communicates bias, and the impact of political correctness
  • Learn practical writing skills, such as how to produce press releases, flyers, reviews and newsletters

Who is this course for?

  • These courses are open to all Erasmus and Study Abroad students for university credits.
  • Students should have an upper-intermediate level of English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).

Assessment

Students are assessed on written and oral work completed during the course.

  • Writing: three pieces of written work
  • Speaking: two oral projects
  • Students are expected to attend all the sessions
