Course aims

Listening

  • Improve your listening skills in a variety of academic & non-academic contexts
  • Learn to develop your listening skills independently outside of the classroom
  • Develop your ability to take notes in academic contexts such as lectures
  • Investigate accents and colloquial language and consider how these affect listening

Who is this course for?

  • This course is open to all Erasmus and Study Abroad students.
  • Students will be required to sit a placement test prior to the start of the course. Groups will be decided on the basis of this test, and on students' other timetable commitments.

Assessment

  • 40% - continuous assessment, in the form of a diary to be kept over 8 weeks detailing your experiences of listening in your everyday life
  • 60% - a test at the end of the course
