Innovation Partnerships at the University of Leicester

Regional SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) are invited to contact the Innovation Partnerships team to access the expertise, technologies and facilities the University of Leicester has to offer to develop and implement novel solutions, products and services to tackle the 'climate change' agenda.  

The University is a rich source of new knowledge and know-how in technological advancements, their applications and the latest business practices gleaned through continuous cutting-edge research.  

The Innovation Partnerships project offers holistic, practical support from ‘idea to implementation’ stages to help SMEs in the East Midlands work more efficiently and productively by utilising new knowledge and technologies in the design, engineering and manufacturing processes e.g. conserving energy, raw materials and reducing waste. 

Thanks to funding received from ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) and ECIF (Economic Challenge Investment Fund) it is possible for Qualifying* companies to access funded support to work with the University of Leicester in the following four ways:  

1. Secondments - company employee works hand-in-hand with academic(s) at the University to deliver company based novel solutions - up to 100% funded

2. Graduate Internships - recently qualified graduate works in the company full-time for up to 4 months to implement resource efficiency project - 50% funded

3. Productivity and Efficiency Consultancy  - up to three days consultancy from academic(s) from the University, free of charge

4. Resource Efficiency Themed Workshop - delivered biannually, free to attend
