University of Leicester Archaeological Service (ULAS) 

University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) is a professional archaeological unit building on over 20 years' experience in field projects. It offers a comprehensive range of archaeological services carried out to the highest professional standards, quickly and cost-effectively. All work follows the appropriate code or standard of the Institute of Field digArchaeologists (IFA). ULAS is an IFA Registered Organisation. A high quality archaeological consultancy and research service centred in a leading university archaeology department offering: Consultancy, Desk-based assessments, Building survey, Geophysical survey, Field survey and evaluation, Excavation, Post-excavation, Publication, display and interpretation.

University of Leicester Geological Services (LUGS)

Services range from mineralogical determination of clay samples to elemental determination at sub-ppm levels in rocks, soils, sediments and water samples.

GENETA

Specialists in the production of mice containing customised genetic modifications to suit your research requirements.

Obrus Microbiology Services provides a dedicated, independent service in the evaluation of antimicrobial and therapeutic agents against a range of microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, virus and amoebae.

We also specialise in the isolation and identification of pathogenic free-living amoebae such as Naegleria fowleri and Acanthamoeba from water, environmental and clinical samples.

We work with clients from all over the world and have a reputation for the services we provide in the evaluation of contact lens disinfectant solutions against the ocular parasite Acanthamoeba.

Department of Chemistry - Facilities for industry

The Department of Chemistry has a range of facilities that can be of direct benefit to industrial companies. These include:-

  • High-pressure reactor facility
  • NMR
  • Xray Crystallography
  • Mass Spectrometry

Advanced Microscopy Centre

The Advanced Microscopy Centre comprises four instruments,  a UHV STM, an SPM, a FEGSEM with EBSD and EDX and a TEM with EDX and the associated specimen preparation equipment for preparing thin foils or carbon replicas.
