The training programme
About the programme
The Leicester Graduate Internship Programme enables our graduates to gain relevant work experience to aid them in their transition to the job market. The internships offered are at graduate level and for six months duration (unless otherwise stated), starting in the Autumn. The internships are all full-time. Students must have successfully completed their studies at the time of the start of the programme. Internship projects are offered in a range of areas including some popular sectors such as journalism and marketing.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the programme applicants MUST:
- Have recently graduated from the University of Leicester
- Be able to prove their right to work in the UK
- Be available to work full-time during the internship programme (October to April).
Workshops and training
Interns are expected to participate in a full range of bespoke career development workshops which are designed to help you market yourself to employers at the end of the programme. Self-reflection is an important aspect of the programme. Interns will be encouraged to use a wordpress blog to develop an e-portfolio of their skills and experiences during the programme.
Interns are encouraged to book onto Staff Development training courses. We also 'buy in' key packages such as web development and project management. Other courses are available, such as different IT packages (subject to availability).

Interns are also encouraged to take advantage of the other services that the Careers Service offer including interview coaching, CV and application form feedback and one-to-one guidance from careers advisers.
