What we provide

These individual appointments can cover: 

  • How to apply for (and obtain) work experience (where to look, researching opportunities and options, strategies for finding suitable work experience, speculative applications)
  • How to maximise your work experience (things to do before, during and after)

How we work

During the consultation, we discuss your situation and look at the best way in which to address your query. Consultations are usually 30 minutes in length. 

How to book

  • In person at the Careers Service Helpdesk located on the 2nd Floor, David Wilson Library.
  • By telephoning the Help Desk on 0116 252 2004.

Please check opening times as these may vary during vacation times.

You will be asked to provide the following information:-

Your name, course, year of study, contact telephone number, email and nature of work experience query.

Appointments take place in the Careers Service interview rooms, located on the 2nd Floor, David Wilson Library. On arrival for an appointment please inform the Help Desk staff you are here.

What to bring with you

This depends on the nature of your query. If you want to know how to improve your employability or find work experience, then usually, you don't have to bring anything as the information can be emailed to you.

If you want to articulate the skills gained from your work experience, then you should bring in your CV or application form. 

What we do not provide

We do not complete CVs or application forms on your behalf.
