Volunteers have the right to: - Have a description of their role, what is expected of them, their volunteering rights and responsibilities, time & other commitments, the skills they will need and can develop, etc. - Not be used to replace the work of paid staff. - Know who is responsible for supporting them & be safe in their work. - Receive and request induction and ongoing training. - Claim for out of pocket expenses. - Progress within the organisation and ask for job references. - Not act against personal or moral stances. The volunteer can withdraw from volunteering at any time and not be made to feel a moral obligation to continue to volunteer. They should however keep Project Leaders aware of the decision to leave in order that they can reassess the needs of the project. Volunteers have a responsibility to: - Choose their own volunteering role. - Agree to a level of commitment. - Develop skills needed in a volunteering role. - Recognise that they are a representative of Contact Student Volunteers whilst volunteering. - Inform the volunteer coordinator if they are struggling or want to leave a project. - Respect the policies and procedures of Contact Student Volunteers, including confidentiality. - Uphold their agreed level of commitment.
