Services to recruitment agencies

Introduction

In support of the Aims and Objectives as detailed in the Mission Statement, the Careers Service is committed to:

  • providing the highest standard of careers guidance, information and education to enable the University's students and graduates to make and implement informed career decisions;
  • supporting the University in providing opportunities for its students and graduates to develop the skills and attributes necessary for their future success;
  • collaborating with University academic and administrative staff in activities which enable students to develop employment-related skills and attributes;
  • establishing and maintaining links with employers and other external organisations in order to promote the interests of the University's students and graduates;
  • advising the University of developments in guidance, recruitment and employment in order to help the University to achieve its objectives.

Many of our services are also available to graduates. Our leaflet 'Services to Employers' and the employer section of our website contains more details of what employers can expect from the Careers Service but the following gives a broad overview:

Please note: The Careers Service preference is to work with Recruitment Agencies who offer free services to students and graduates, and reserves the right to be selective over which agencies we work with on that basis.

1. Advertising Vacancies

  • The Careers Service will publicise vacancies so long as we are able to disclose the name of the employer/client to our students and graduates in the vacancy entry.
  • The contact details will still be those of the Recruitment Agency and applications will be forwarded to them, rather than to the employer/client.
  • The Careers Service reserves the right to be selective in advertising vacancies.
  • If the Recruitment Agency is unable to disclose the employer/client then the Careers Service will be unable to advertise the position.
  • When advertising a vacancy on behalf of a recruitment agency it is on the understanding that the recruitment agency has been actively appointed by their client to work on the position. I.e. the recruitment agency has not obtained details of the vacancy through secondary sources, for example the company website.

Further information on advertising vacancies can be found on the advertising vacancies webpage.

2. Holding of Recruitment Agency details in the Careers Service

The Careers Service does not hold Recruitment Agency vacancy bulletins or lists of jobs.

The Careers Service does, however, hold Recruitment Agency contact details. Recruitment Agencies are welcome to send details of their organisation to the Careers Service for inclusion in this section.

Please send details of your organisation to: The Careers Service, Student Development Zone, David Wilson Library, University of Leicester, University Road, Leicester, LE1 7RH, Email: employers@le.ac.uk

Please ensure that you include, where applicable, the following information:

  • Company name
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Website address
  • Type of vacancies available (temporary/permanent/work experience and occupational areas covered)

These files are maintained by the Careers Service and updated on a regular basis. There is no charge for this service.

3. Presentations on campus

Presentations by Recruitment Agencies to students are arranged at the discretion of the Careers Service .

To find out more about giving a presentation on campus visit the employer events section of the the Careers Service website or contact the contact the Employer Liaison Team.

4. Careers Fairs

Recruitment Agencies are invited to attend our recruitment Fairs at the discretion of the Careers Service.

To find out more about careers fairs visit the employer events section of the the Careers Service website or contact the Employer Liaison Team.

5. Web based information

The Careers Service website links to the REC website, which has a searchable database of recruitment agencies.

The Careers Service website also links to a limited selection of recruitment agencies. Inclusion on the Careers Service website is at our discretion.

The Careers Service expects the following from Recruitment Agencies:

  • Accuracy in any vacancy or placement information provided.
  • Notification of any activities on campus arranged separately by them with other University of Leicester departments/services - e.g. academic departments, Students' Union etc.
  • Timely notification of any alteration to arrangements agreed with the Careers Service.
  • A commitment to attend Careers Fairs for their duration when a stand has been booked.
  • Full compliance with and a commitment to current equal opportunities legislation (see Quality Standards below).
  • The Recruitment Agency has been actively appointed by their client to respresent them to Universities.

Feedback and evaluation and complaints

The Careers Service values feedback from employers, both formal and informal, and use it in regular evaluations of our services. From time to time we will seek such feedback in the form of a questionnaire on a specific aspect of our service; any feedback provided will be treated with discretion.

Employers who wish to comment on any aspect of the Careers Service, either positively or negatively, should use one of the questionnaires provided or inform any member of Careers Service staff who will try to help. They may also write to or contact the Head of Careers Service with more details: a written reply will normally be given within five working days of receipt of this.

The Careers Service operates within a set of professional standards including:

  • The AGCAS Equal Opportunities Policy and Guidelines
