What is Tomorrow's Managers?

Tomorrow's Managers is a two-day insight into management course.  (Please note that this is a non-residential event)

  • The course aims to help you to understand the issues faced by modern business professionals and gain an insight into careers in management.
  • Tomorrow's Managers is run by national employers and the Careers Service at the University of Leicester.
  • Students work in teams, with an experienced business professional, on a range of business challenges developed by graduate employers.

All undergraduate students from the University of Leicester can attend the Tomorrow's Managers course.

What will I get out of attending Tomorrow's Managers?

1. Key skills highly valued by employers

Through presentations, role-play and business exercises you will have the opportunity to develop key skills needed for the working world, including:

  • communication
  • teamwork
  • problem-solving
  • time-management

2. Networking opportunities

You will have a chance to network with employers and gain an insight into different careers areas.

3. Student YOU Plan and careers consultation

You will receive a Student YOU Plan, in the form of a workbook, to support your learning and development before, during and after the course.  You will also have a personal post course consultation with a careers adviser who will review the work book with you.

4. Experience to put on your CV

On completion of the two day course, workbook and personal consultation you will receive a certificate. This will give formal recognition of your employability skills and enhance your CV.

Students who successfully complete the whole programme will receive the Leicester Award for Employability: Leadership and Management. This award will appear on your academic transcript.

5. And finally...

You will have the chance to get to know other students from the University of Leicester and have some fun!

Logica 2011 (square)

I really enjoyed the whole day and was very impressed with the quality of students I met. They asked me so many intelligent and probing questions, had many interesting observations on my exercise, and I thought the level of energy and effort they put in was impressive.

I’d also like to compliment you on the organisation of the course – as an employer it has been a real pleasure to deal with you as you have made the whole process painless from my end including your help in designing the course slot. I do hope that I can get involved again next year. Graduate Recruitment Manager – Logica
