What is the Leicester Award?
The Leicester Award for Employability is an experiential career development programme designed to help you develop, assess, recognise and record the employability skills you are gaining through extra and co-curricular activity. The Leicester Award for Employability encompasses a range of employability courses and experiences available to University of Leicester students.
How can I apply for the Leicester Award?
Before applying for the Leicester Award, carefully decide which experience you would like to do because you can only apply for one.

What are the benefits of the Leicester Award?
Through participating in the Leicester Award you will:
- Gain experience and develop key transferable skills employers are looking for
- Gain recognition for your involvement in extra-curricular activities
- Be able to articulate your skills and achievements
- Receive training and support and have the chance to meet graduate employers (on certain Awards -see experience descriptions for more details)
How can I achieve the Leicester Award?
The Leicester Award is achieved by taking part in one of the accredited extracurricular Leicester Award experiences combined with the completion of the core Leicester Award units on blackboard.
Most experiences start in November and finish in April the following year.

Students are only able to enrol on one LA experience per academic year
The Leicester Award is open to penultimate and final year students, and Post Graduate Home/EU students studying at the University of Leicester, although different experiences may have particular entry requirements, so read the experience profiles to find out more.
