Located in the Fielding Johnson Building South Wing, on the main City Campus, the Student Recruitment Office is part of the Division of Corporate Affairs and Planning.
Our purpose is to lead and co-ordinate all work to ensure the University reaches its home and EU undergraduate admissions targets, to improve the academic quality of the University’s intake and to protect the diversity of this intake.
We have three teams within the office who work closely together on a wide range of events, outreach activities, initiatives and campaigns. Each team is heavily involved in building relationships with enquirers and applicants, schools and colleges, and in supporting the work of academic departments across the University.
We present ourselves to schools, colleges and advisers as 'School and College Services' – and have web pages that describe our school and college work. Our work with enquirers and applicants, and our work in supporting Departments, however, is rather broader than this.
Recruitment events team
The recruitment events team leads on a range of events to ensure the University attracts a strong pool of enquirers and applicants, that we support students through the applications and admissions process, and that Leicester is a university of choice for a wide and diverse range of students. Events include Open Days, UCAS applicant visit days, school-based information, advice and guidance sessions, Higher Education Conventions, campus visits etc.
Widening Participation team
The widening participation team leads on a range of targeted activities and initiatives specifically aimed at raising the aspirations and attainment of learners, in order to encourage progression in education, including progression to this University. This includes summer schools, university experience days, e-mentoring, compact scheme and a whole range of themed events and schools outreach to ensure that students from a wide and diverse range of ages and backgrounds have the opportunity to learn about the opportunities university could offer them.
Customer Relations Management team
The CRM team works to build a strong base of enquirers and applicants, and develops a range of communications aimed at building relationships with these students. This work involves the use of campaigns, as well as robust customer relations management techniques and processes. The team works closely with the recruitment events team, the widening participation team, the Admissions Office, the Marketing Communications Office and a wide range of academic Departments.
