Heating and Hot Water

Your rent includes all charges for heating and hot water. In order to minimise waste the hours of heating and hot water provision need to be regulated. The following arrangements have been adopted following negotiations with current residents. Hot water is normally provided between the hours of 07.30 and 09.00 and 17.00 and 21.00 hours each day.

The normal winter pattern of heating is 07.30 to 09.00 and 17.00 to 23.00 hours. Our heating systems are set to operate at a maximum temperature of 20°C. Students from countries with a warmer climate sometimes take time to adjust to this.

Please do not use any private heater of any sort in your room. If additional heating is deemed necessary by our staff it may be provided by the Residential Service.

Arrangements at Opal Court differ slightly and residents are able to control more directly the heating in their own bedroom.
