What is Arts in the Village?

Arts in the Village is an ongoing programme of arts based activities and events available to all students, offering a wide range of classes, workshops and facilities. We aim to offer a variety of taster and ongoing sessions in varying disciplines of the performance and creative arts, either for free or at a subsidised rate.
For those who want to take part
The Arts in the Village programme holds a variety of courses. Improve your musical skills with our competitively priced music lessons, share your opinions in our film and book clubs, learn how to shake it like a pro with a course on cocktail making, discover Street Dance and Zumba or become a top chef with our new cookery and baking groups.
For those who want to watch

Music: If you don't play an instrument but enjoy a gig or two, we have the Arts in the Village band nights, which are free of charge and give you the chance to see some up and coming artists for free. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more details.
If you don’t fancy participating in the Arts in the Village Open Mic Nights, don’t forget to come along and watch. There are 3 heats scheduled for this year’s competition and they begin in the Arts in the Village Common Room on 27th October.
Comedy: If you fancy enjoying a few laughs then we have three top class comedy clubs happening right here in the student village. The comedy clubs are FREE to all students with the first event being held on 24th November. Drinks offers will be available all night so come along and prepare to heckle or be heckled!
Entertainment: Throughout the year we also hold regular entertainment nights such as a Psychic entertainer or our very own plays. There are several more projects in the pipe-line with the emphasis on the student preferences. If there is a demand for it we will try to provide it, as students gain new skills, new friends and a great deal of confidence from these sessions; as well as having lots of fun along the way! If you have any ideas for courses or events, please feel free to contact us at artsinthevillage@le.ac.uk.
As well as a wide range of courses and events, Oadby Student Village boasts three music practice rooms, a dance studio and three bars one of which is completely dedicated Arts in the Village.
