Allocation Policy

Allocations Policy for New Students

Student using ComputerEligible applications from new students are allocated on a first come first serve basis. Using established criteria, we do also give some priorty to students with special needs when pertinent information is made known to us at the time of applying.

Our accommodation is always popular and so the later you apply the more restricted the choice of accommodation will be.

We recommend that you include as many accommodation preferences as possible on your application form - this will make it easier to offer you a suitable alternative room if your first choice is unavailable. Regrettably, demand for some of our most popular room types usually outstrips supply.

We guarantee an offer of University allocated accommodation to all new applicants, provided your application is submitted by 1 September and other criteria are met (see our accommodation guarantee).

Please note that we guarantee a room, not a particular type of room, although we always do our best to meet your preferences within the contraints of the accommodation that is available. We will also do our best to accommodate all late applicants, however if your application is received after the deadline it will not be considered until all students who applied before the deadline have been considered.

Allocations Policy for Returning Students

We welcome applications from current University of Leicester students who wish to return to our accommodation.

If you are returning to begin a new course for the new academic year then you are classed as a new student and should read the instructions given above.

Students in the LibraryHowever, if you are returning to continue on the same course then you are classed as a returning student.
