Andrew Tobin

After completing my PhD in Oxford in 1989 I took up a post doctoral position at Bristol-Myers Squibb in New Jersey, USA, to work under Mariano Barbacid in the study of the Ras oncogene. I returned to the UK to take up a Wellcome Trust funded position in Leicester with Prof. Steve Nahorski and in 1996 was awarded my first Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellowship. I have subsequently been awarded a further two Wellcome Trust fellowships to work on G-protein coupled receptor signalling. My laboratory has recently also become interested in phospho-proteomic signalling in the malarial parasite and is currently investigating the possibility of identifying protein kinase inhibitors as anti-malarials.
