Leicester University Voices (LUV) selected to perform in the University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY) competition on 18 March 2017

Leicester University Voices (LUV), a gospel choir at the University of Leicester, has been shortlisted to sing at the finals of a national university choir competition.

LUV will compete alongside nine other finalist choirs in the 7th annual University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY) competition 2017. They will be returning to the stage a year on from narrowly missing out on winning the title two years in a row – after being crowned winners in 2015 and runners-up in 2016.

The competition, taking place on Saturday 18 March at the Hippodrome, North London, will be hosted by MOBO Award Winner Rachel Kerr and judges include Mark De-Lisser, Director to ACM Gospel Choir, and London Community Gospel Choir directors Ayo and Stephanie Oyerinde.

The UGCY competition allows university choirs to perform in front of a large audience, as well as receive feedback from some of the leading figures in the UK Gospel scene. Since its creation, UGCY has held six annual competitions, celebrating the talent of 3000+ students from various universities across the UK and has worked with the likes of ITV’s The X-Factor, Britain's Got Talent and the BBC Gospel Proms.
