Former Home Secretary speaks to Leicester students
One of Westminster’s most interesting and recognisable MPs visited the University of Leicester last week as a guest of the Students’ Union’s Labour Society. David Blunkett MP represents Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough and served in Tony Blair’s Cabinet in three important roles: Home Secretary, Education Secretary and Work and Pensions Secretary.
Accompanied by his guide dog Cosby, Mr Blunkett was interviewed on stage and then took questions from an audience of about 80 students. Topics covered included the living wage, police cuts, riots, the 'No to AV' campaign, visas for students, House of Lords reform, the News of the World and Nick Clegg.
