Chinese students from the University of Leicester have contributed to a week-long exhibition at Leicester’s historic Guildhall.

The free exhibition, A Taste of China, is open this week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and features displays of traditional Chinese art and craft, including calligraphy, ceramics and paintings.

Students from our Chinese Society will be in attendance to provide calligraphy demonstrations at 2.00pm today (Monday 5 March), 2.00pm on Wednesday 7 March and 1.00pm on Saturday 10 March. If you hang around on Saturday, our students will also be demonstrating tai chi at 3.00pm.

In addition, Dr Toby Lincoln from our School of Historical Studies will give a free illustrated talk at 3.00pm on Tuesday 6 March entitled ‘Paris of the East’. There are also Chinese films screening at the Guildhall at noon and 3.00pm each day.

A Taste of China has been organised by The Society for Intercultural Understanding in Leicester and Leicester City Council museums service. Exhibits have been provided by The Chinese Cultural Office of the Chinese Embassy in London and the Leicester Chinese Community Centre, as well as our own students.

This free exhibition at the Guildhall is open from 11.00am to 4.30pm on each of the days.
