Start ‘em young: Embrace Arts present a show for babies and toddlers
It’s never too early to get children introduced to the idea of visiting the theatre, but you don’t really want to start them off with Titus Andronicus. As part of the Spark Children’s Arts Festival, the University’s arts centre Embrace Arts is presenting a special show for youngsters aged from four months to 18 months.
Reeling and Writhing is a Scottish theatre company co-founded by Katherine Morley whose previous work includes BabyO, a show aimed at a similarly youthful audience which was a big hit at Embrace Arts last year.
The Presents is a half-hour musical show, combining singing, cello and percussion, in a one-hour slot – so there’s time to get comfortable beforehand and time to play with the performers after. Audience size is limited to 25 babies so everyone gets a front-row seat. Well, cushion.
The show is on at Embrace Arts this Saturday 9 June and Sunday 10 June, at 10.00am, 11.30am and 2.00pm each day. Tickets cost £7 or £25 for a party of four, available from the Embrace Arts box office on 0116 252 2455.
