Multicoloured plant swap shop at the Botanic Garden this weekend
If you can get along to the University’s Botanic Garden this weekend, bring some plants from your greenhouse or garden for a Plant Exchange. This takes place in the Knoll Driveway off Glebe Road between 11.00am and 3.00pm on both Saturday 16 June and Sunday 17 June.
There’s no charge: just bring some plants to offer and find something you want in exchange. And of course take a look round the gardens while you’re there. Refreshments will be served in Beaumont House.
The following weekend there is storytelling in the Attenborough Arboretum on Sunday 24 June which is, of course, Midsummer Day. Come along to Carisbrooke Road between midday and 3.30pm to hear traditional storytellers among the trees. Entry is £5 per person which includes afternoon tea. Advance booking is essential (so we know how many teas to prepare); please phone 0116 271 2933 during office hours or email firstname.lastname@example.org
And work is under way now for the opening of this year’s Sculpture in the Garden exhibition, opening on Sunday 1 July, which is also the day of the Botanic Garden’s annual Plant Sale and Family Day (and the day after the Summer Reunion – it’s a busy weekend). The Botanic Garden Café will open its doors on that day too and will then be open every day 11.00am-4.00pm until September; that’s in Southmeade House, near the herb garden.
Please note that the Gardening Workshop scheduled for Saturday 30 June (Fabulous Flowers All Summer) has unfortunately been cancelled.
