Running community gardening projects in Kent.

The Whitstable People website (“News, views and business listings from Whitstable’s community”) has a fascinating profile of Cath Jones, who graduated from our School of Archaeology and Ancient History with a degree in Ancient History and Classical Studies.

Cath also has a Masters in Librarianship from Aberystwyth University and is now studying for a Masters in Children’s Writing at the University of Winchester while working on her first book. She has previously worked for the British Library and the British Council and in publishing, and for a number of years she was a primary school teacher.

Nowadays Cath runs Vegucate Kent, which organises school and community gardening projects across the county, giving children the chance to grow their own food and manage their own vegetable beds and allotments. She also organises the annual Whitstable Seed Swap, a chance for gardeners to exchange unusual varieties.
