Keep calm and drink tea - language help is at hand for international students
What could be a better way to learn about British culture than a chat over a cup of tea?
Our Student Welfare Service has set up a new Language Café to help international students get to grips with all things British - from sport and food to the Queen and the Diamond Jubilee.
The pilot scheme will take the form of weekly sessions - each focusing on a different aspect of life in the UK - and students and volunteers from the local community will give short presentations on topics such as leisure, pets, and rules of behaviour in the UK.
Elizabeth Cornish, the International Student Integration Co-ordinator at the University of Leicester, is running the Language Café scheme, which will start on Wednesday 18 April 2012 and run for six weeks. The sessions take place in the English Language Teaching Unit on Regent Road.
Students and members of the community who wish to volunteer should contact the Welfare service on email@example.com.
