Guided tours of the Botanic Garden this weekend
The Friends of the Botanic Garden are organising guided tours of the garden this weekend to coincide with the Royal Horticultural Society’s National Gardening Week.
There are two tours on Saturday 21 April – at 11.00am and 3.00pm – and another brace of tours, at the same times, on Sunday 22 April. Each tour costs £3.00 a head and lasts for about an hour.
The trained guides are knowledgeable members of the Friends who will enlighten you about not only the various plant species on show across the 16 acres of Botanic Garden but also the history of the garden itself, which has been on the present location since 1947. Before that, the collection was housed closer to what is now the University campus. The buildings around the garden are Edwardian.
To book a place on one of the tours please email botanicgarden@le.ac.uk or phone 0116 271 2933 (answerphone outside office hours) stating the date and time you’re interested in (and how many people you’re bringing).
